“He said to them, “Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.” (Matthew 13:52)
New treasures as well as old. As The Forest Archive, that’s pretty reflective of the music that I create. I love to dig deep into the Judeo-Christian tradition and bring out Scripture and poetry that may be hundreds or even thousands of years old, but still speaks today. Then I pair it with creative lyricism and catchy melodies, all the while striving to be emotionally honest about what’s going on in my life and in our world. I want my songs to invite others into a deeper Story, a divine epic of celebration and lament, longing and gratitude, resistance to injustice and unfettered joy. And I love the energy and earthiness of grassroots folk – music by the people, for the people, with the people.
I’m a singer/songwriter currently based in Coquitlam, BC, located in the unceded, ancestral territories of the Kwik’wet’lem and other Coast Salish peoples. I’ve been writing songs since 2008, when a college friend asked me, “Why not write your own?” (Thanks, Cale!) Years later, I’ve been blessed to lead my music in churches, recovery centres, living rooms, and backyards across the Lower Mainland and beyond. Writing songs brings me joy and helps me pray. And I hope my songs do the same for others.
So join me in The Forest Archive – where the roots run deep into ancient wisdom, bursting forth in fresh life, beautiful diversity, and refreshment for the soul. There’s a place for you here!
